Overview
Global Project is a project by Gravity in which new cities with themes based on countries with licensed RO servers were added to the game. Wildlife, traditions, and culture based on the country of origin are applied in each map. All cities under the Global Project can be accessed from the Alberta docks for 10,000 Zeny.
Part 1 introduced three cities: the Japanese-themed Amatsu, the Taiwanese-styled Kunlun (Gonryun), and the Chinese-inspired Louyang. Each city brings unique monsters, dungeons, quests, and cultural atmosphere to the world of Rune-Midgard.
Amatsu - Land of the Cherry Blossoms
Amatsu is quite a beautiful city, done in the style of old Japan. Here the pink-white blossoms of the cherry (sakura) trees are always in bloom. It was the first product of the Global Project.
A sailor's ship ran into a raging storm and drifted off-course, landing on the banks of an unknown village. The kind natives took him in, fed him, and nursed him back to health. Straw huts line the streets and exquisite cherry blossoms give the atmosphere a pinkish-white glow. At the center is a shrine that sits partially underwater, surrounded by lush pine and bamboo trees. At the east stands the magnificent Lakeside Castle, where most of the village treasures are contained.
Kunlun - The Enchanted Skyland
The Enchanted Skyland. Kunlun is a cultural town designed in Ancient Taiwanese style, also known as Gonryun outside of iRO. It features stunning tourist attractions, deep religious roots, and impressive sceneries.
The natives of Kunlun are a rather superstitious lot, worshipping deities known as "Hermits." These Hermits are an absolute power unto themselves, controlling human existence and limitations. Anyone can become a Hermit through perfection and enlightenment. Unfortunately, not all who become Hermits remain good - some are overwhelmed by their divinity and become the feared Evil Cloud Hermits.
Louyang - Castle of the Dragon
Known as "The Castle of The Dragon." Louyang is a town done in the style of Ancient China. Louyang boasts vast fields and tall mountains. Beyond the grand northern walls lies the glorious Castle of the Dragon, capital of Louyang, majestic in its size and architecture.
Far from the shores of Volsug, brave adventurers discovered the land of Louyang. Unlike Amatsu or Kunlun, foreigners were not welcome here. The people had a strong connection to their culture and ostracized outsiders. The Wu Lin, a martial arts school acting as the unofficial government, maintained order. Its founder Bai Long used his strength to unite warriors and defeat monster invasions. As he aged, the warrior schools began fighting each other, and monsters returned. Bai Long opened the walls to outsiders to help battle the fearsome creatures.
Dungeons
Deep in Amatsu's Lakeside Castle lies a hidden entrance to the Tatami Maze, a deceptive labyrinth. The final floor, the Underground Shrine, is home to the MVP Samurai Specter. Kunlun's dungeon is accessed near the top of the town. Louyang's Royal Tomb lies beneath the castle, teeming with unspeakable horrors and guarded by the White Lady MVP.
