Story
"No one asked anyone where they came from, what they did, and how they got here..."
Hugel is now the eye of the storm. Pursuers seeking Odin Shrine's relics, the Gigantes, and Ymir's Heart have appeared, and the airship route has opened. Hugel's peace and isolation has come to an end. The people of Hugel, especially those who left their homeland for specific reasons, are now desperate to hide their secrets from the outsiders. They started holding parties with others more often, in order to keep their secrets.
Because of its geographic location, separated by both Thanatos Tower and Abyss Lake, the city grew much different than the other Schwartzvald cities. Due to increasing attacks on travelers, going by Airship is possibly the safest way to enter Hugel.
Abyss Lake
Abyss Lake lies in the northern Schwartzvald Republic. The shimmering lake surface, surrounding green fields, and foggy mist form an astonishing vision. The lake's clear waters seem to run endlessly into the earth, and no one knows its actual depth. A quaint island lies in the center, covered with dark earthen rocks arranged almost as if to obscure something.
Human visitors rarely come here. The inhabitants were driven away by strange guardian creatures summoned by the gods and dragons summoned by Demon King Morroc. The dungeon has three increasingly difficult floors. On the final floor, the boss dragon Detale lurks, guarding ancient treasures. Requires the Abyss Lake Entrance Quest.
Thanatos Tower
The tower was built to honor the legendary magic-wielding swordsman Thanatos, who battled Demon King Morroc for 10 days and nights before sealing him in the southern Rune-Midgard desert. The tower originally had thirteen floors.
The Rekenber Corporation rediscovered the crumbling ruins and began reconstructing the tower, opening the lowest floors to tourists to fund continuing renovations. Then one day, a strange flash of lightning struck the top of the tower, bright enough to be seen from Einbroch. The disaster left only a few survivors, all claiming that Demons or Angels attacked them. Despite this tragedy, Rekenber refuses to give up. Requires the Thanatos Tower Quest.
Odin Temple
The Odin Temple was built ages ago by an ancient civilization who worshipped the god of lightning. The temple was massive, almost spanning the size of the island. However, civil war broke out as various leaders vied for Odin's favor. Destruction and death came as the warring factions nearly wiped each other out, and survivors abandoned the island.
Today, scholars and adventurers have returned. The ghosts of the past as well as the present now stand guard to the greatest secrets of Odin. Take a boat from Hugel docks (209, 109) for 800z to reach Angrboda Island.
City Guide
Hugel hosts many activities for visitors. The Bingo hall in the top left allows groups of 5 players to play, and every 10 minutes the Monster Races take place in the bottom left corner of town. The Hunter Guild has relocated here, found in the top right corner.
Supplies and storage services can be found near the center square. Visitors can purchase Hugel's unique Mastella Fruit. A Cool Event Corp NPC handles storage and saving services, as Kafra is unable to staff such a far away place.
